Quote of the Week

I’m in America!! Having a wonderful time seeing what the States have to offer so please forgive me for disappearing for a while.
This quote is one of many by the incredible Martin Luther King Jr and has always stuck with me.

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

I might disappear again for a bit…lots to see, lots to do, plenty to share with you when it’s all done!

Moment of sharing…

I can’t believe I’m about to show you guys this…I fought with myself about whether it was a good idea for a good long while. But in the end I decided hey, this is what I do, I may as well share some of it with you!

Sooo here is a little collection of scenes from different jobs I’ve had recently, edited together for a ‘showreel’. Hopefully there will be many more jobs and many more scenes to add to it in the future.

It’s always nerve-racking showing work you’re in to people you don’t know very well. Scary scary scary!

Lots of lovin!

Beautiful Birdy

Sometimes you find a song, film, book or piece of art that really affects you. ‘Skinny Love’  does this for me. This song gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. I can’t decide whether it makes me happy or sad … possibly both at the same time. Either way I am so completely in love with this artist. The music and her voice are so emotive and really touch the soul.

Here she is doing a cover of ‘Skinny Love’ originally by Bon Iver. Please have a look, I promise you will not regret it.

What I find hard to believe is that this beautiful singer Birdy is only 15 years old, still at high school in the UK, sitting exams and dealing with life as a teenager. Birdy (aka Jasmine van den Bogaerde) was discovered when she won the Open Mic UK competition in 2008 at the young age of 12. Thank goodness for us!

I can’t find her album ‘Birdy’ here in Australia yet but I’m holding out till the day it arrives. What amazing talent she has! Such a blessing on the world.

Freaky by Nature

Nature is wild, beautiful, astonishing and FREAKY all at the same time! Have a look at the video below, it is incredible what this animal does when it feels threatened.

Wowza! How is this possible?? One creature with three different characters and he’s really putting on a show! No wonder creatives get inspired by the world around us, you could turn this into a piece of theatre!

So so cool but also a little bit scary…

In the wise words of Buddha

Thought I’d share this little gem of wisdom…

lt’s so easy to forget to look after ourselves, to be good to ourselves. We spend so much of our time focussed on other people whether at work or at home in relationships, that sometimes I think we forget that we need our care too.

What am I doing this week for myself? I’m not working on Friday (even though I need the money) so that I can go and take some dance classes. I’ve been fairly stressed lately and nothing makes me feel so in sync and happy as a ballet or contemporary dance class. So this Friday it’s all about giving my body and mind what it needs to relax and feel good about itself!

We’re half way through the week so, everybody out there, you’ve still got time to do something special for YOU.

For What It’s Worth

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. there’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. we can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

Button’s letter to his daughter, from ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

A beautiful piece of writing from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I love the idea and the reality that there are no rules when it comes to living our lives. We have the ability to re-make ourselves whenever we choose. And why not? We’re multifaceted beings with many different hopes, hates and loves.

So for what it’s worth, I hope everyone is living life being who they want to be. And if you’re not, then become who you want to be.
